Walking In The Spirit

Now that you’ve received the Holy Spirit you have the privilege and the empowerment to walk in the Spirit. Jeribai shares how through yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit you can walk in an overcoming lifestyle that grows and glorifies God!

Session 4 Outline: Walking In The Spirit

Now that you have begun to KNOW the Holy Spirit and have RECEIVED the Holy Spirit – It is now our great privilege to YIELD to the life giving Holy Spirit within us!

Galations 5:16 – I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Romans 8:5 – For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

We are not just yielding to a little voice of consciousness – WE ARE YIELDING TO GOD IN US! Remember, receiving the Holy Spirit as a Divine Person means we have received GOD the HOLY SPIRIT and we must live in reverent subjection to Him for HE IS HOLY!

When we do not yield to His divine leading – we can resist (oppose) His work, we can quench (suppress) His progress and ultimately grieve (distress) Him…

The Bible exhorts us to be FILLED with the SPIRIT… let the Holy Spirit have FULL control over every aspect of your life…

See… we have a NEW LIFE in Jesus Christ and with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit we have all the equipping we could ever need to allow that new life in Christ to develop and fully form in us!

When we confessed Jesus and believed in our heart that Jesus is Lord, the Holy Spirit miraculously regenerated and renewed our own spirit… We became a New Creation… a child of God, born of incorruptible seed by word of God, which lives and abides forever!

THEN the Holy Spirit CONTINUES the work in us, God is faithful to us and in giving us the Promised Holy Spirit, He is able to bring the good work He started in you as a new creation into a completeness… a maturity in Christ that we might grow up into Him, in all things as sons and daughters… no longer just children of God, but SONS & DAUGHTERS of the Most High!

The Holy Spirit is God in us and He leads us into truth, He teaches us how to operate, think, understand, speak and behave …

Colossians 1:10 – So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

The Holy Spirit empowers us to GROW and this works AS WE YIELD to His leading… it’s not our own strength and abilities or our own intellectual brilliance, but it’s by the SPIRIT of God that we are built up, strengthened, encouraged, enlightened… matured for good works!!

In this incredible internal work, the Holy Spirit produces within us the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Galations 5:22-24

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

In our next and final session we will see what results in and through our lives as we continue to yield to the Holy Spirit, growing up into Christ and purifying ourselves to be ready for God to use us for every good work!
